Field trips in the protected areas of the Strandzha Nature Park

Research teams from the four project partner organizations participated in two field trips in the protected areas of the Strandzha Nature Park on July 5th and 6th, 2022. The event is organized within the Cross-border working meeting in Ahtopol. The first trip was to the protected area “Estuary of the Veleka River”, which is recognized as a paleo volcanic geotope of continental importance. During the second excursion, the participants visited the chapel of “St. Constantine” which is surrounded by ancient oak trees. Ivan Kamburov, long-time expert in Strandzha Nature Park directorate, introduced the researchers to some of the protected and invasive species found on the territory of the park.
